Public Cervix Announcement

Concept #1: Rewriting the Stereotype
There has always been a stigma about women’s sexual health. These misconceptions lead to the perception that taking action to protect yourself negative – get-ting tested makes you a slut, you should be ashamed, monogamy makes you safe, HPV is harmless, ect.. We want to redefine these stereotypes and encourage women to have the confidence to get their annual screening for HPV and STI’s.

[White background, woman in center screen, text on screen]
VO: she got tested for HPV AND STI’S…

[These words are being typed on the screen in real-time]:
SUPER: she’s A SLUT.

[backspace on the word slut]
SUPER: she’s SMART.

[backspace on all the word]
SUPER: she MUST BE EMBARRASSED.

[backspace on the word embarrassed]
SUPER: she MUST BE EMPOWERED.

[backspace on all the words]
SUPER: EVERYONE WILL KNOW.

[backspace on everyone]
SUPER: ONLY SHE WILL KNOW.

[backspace on all the words]
[woman talking to screen]:

We’re rewriting the stereotypes that have long held women back from protecting their sexual health. Its time reclaim your confidence and ask your doctor for an HPV and STI screening.

Save your cervix, protect your future.

Concept #2: Spoken Word
This video approach is more authentic to spoken word and captures the beat of live spoken word. Can also be a cool event we host at various venues and film.

I proudly say “I asked for it”
“She asked for it” you repeat, thinking I’m talking sexually, but no
asking for it to me means
asking for HPV screens
And STI screens so I scream

You should ask for it too
This is a public cervix announcement.
Yeah, I’m ashamed.
Ashamed that most women think that getting screened means they’re not clean
That “oh you got tested?...you must sleep around.”

That monogamy and marriage means you’re safe.
That HPV is harmless and “oh…it can’t happen to me.”

It’s not and it can.
This is a public cervix announcement.

I’m sorry, that I’m not sorry.
That I care about what’s happening between my legs. No, not like that.

I care about getting screened for HPV. And STI’s. Roll your eyes, but you should too.

All these “getting tested” misconceptions. But ladies, it’s about protection.
This is a public cervix announcement.
